It's just that historically "cult of personality" + "armed fundamentalists" + "white nationalist worldview" + "fascist control of a major political party" doesn't typically end well, whether or not they win political power the normal way. It's kind of a known recipe for shocking violence and a whole pile of bodies, even if said movement is vastly less successful than say, the Nazis in Germany. It roots in deep, sometimes for generations.
