I know that, but mostly only because I'm an engineer and I work with a lot of people from India. Most Americans only know of Gandhi. The non-violent overthrow of the British from the subcontinent is about the only thing that was mentioned , even in passing, about Hindus, in any of my 16 years of public schooling, including my first bachelor's degree being in Political Science.
those people weren't Christians. They may have belonged to a religious organization that claims to believe in Jesus, but they aren't Christians. Religion is volent, Jesus is not. Like my dad used to say "Its not about religion, its about relationship" & "Men who fear hell seek religion, men who've been through hell seek Jesus"
