That's the main thing for programming at whole for me.
That's probably an ADHD thing too.

I recently heard that the reason why ADHDers might game concentrated for hours, but can't focus on some homework is, because there is no direct response or reward from that piece of paper.

For programming there is indeed. Any time you reach the next step, it's a small reward.
