The most important thing is to suppress beneficial traits in the population so nobody can ever improve anything, because that risks someone having more wealth than someone else. Nobody should ever be forced to suffer the consequences of their own decisions or inadequacies. That's what empathy is, and if you don't have empathy that makes you a valid target for aggression and absolves me of all responsibility for my violent actions against you.
