It becomes complicated: Once users have such a top list, mid-aged* posts won't get likes at all. It causes a gap between seen and unseen toots, in that case between top and mid-aged toots.
*) Mid-aged posts are affected most by this because there will still be a chronological TL showing the newest posts. Mentioning that, aged posts are less visible already.
You could try Lemmy which is a federated reddit fork. There you can sort posts as you like:
- Active (default)
- Hot
- Scaled
- New
- Old
- Most Comments
- New Comments
- Top Day
- Top Week
- Top Month
- Top Year
- Top All Time
