@carnage4life I remember the point in the 90s dot-com boom where I, doing Mac desktop support in Silicon Valley, got hired for $26 an hour (the equivalent of $54,000 a year) while my dad, a 20-year fire department veteran, still had a salary in the mid 40s as a lieutenant. The cognitive shear damn near broke me.
But I already knew based on teachers' and social workers' salaries -- and fucking investment bankers' -- that societal worth had no mapping to payment structures.
