As an aside and addition that's one of the reasons why I find the Nausicaä manga ending so lackluster since Miyazaki implies she ended up with the forest pixie guy. I just don't think the chemistry was fleshed out between them at all and the raison d'être was different.

I always preferred the movie or the manga but not by a huge margin, in numerical terms I'd put the movie at straight 10 and the manga at a 9.4 ish mainly because of the ending in general.
