@bumble That reminded me of the major debate when Mastodon first came into the picture. Mastodon started to do things on their own, which existing fediverse platforms didn't like.
Then repositioned itself as the “prime example of the still being developed ActivityPub protocol”, which further heated the debate on how Mastodon is doing things. Only later, still do things on its own (this time, stuff not in the ActivityPub protocol).
Eventually, everyone else were forced to implement stuff just to be compatible with Mastodon (not ActivityPub per se).
I guess, that issue from 10 years ago is once again showing up. “Be compatible with Mastodon, not ActivityPub itself.”
