The Catholic concept is that every person is open to salvation and has a soul that can be "potentially saved". Calvinists, especially the extreme ones that normalize genocide, believe only a special pre-chosen "elect" are saved by grace alone, and ultimately all others can be treated as soulless subhuman animals, lesser than them, and can be freely killed as desired.
