The number one failure point in consumer appliances is the computer. Dishwashers will fey within 3 years very frequently. Computers are essential for them because they use fancy detergents that don't work as well using less water and lower water pressure, so everything has to be cycled and calibrated and configured instead of just the old method of LMAO BLAST IT WITH HOT WATER AND PHOSPHATES BOTTOM TEXT. Fridges and ovens come next. Ovens less often because people don't cook as much as they should. Self cleaning will destroy le computer sometimes because the residual heat gets so high it fries the board. They could be totally analog without issue but we can't do that because computers are a short cut for everything being imprecise and built by the lowest bidder. Fridges fail because they have super high compression gas in them now and multi stage heat pumps required to automate everything. My 30 year old fridge still works and will definitely outlast its replacement.
