@clacke @aprilfollies @NamelessCynic @dpnash „Washing up“ exists in parts of Germany as well („aufwaschen“) and it means doing it by hand, you’d never use that with regards to a dishwasher. I would think it’s the same in English.
(It’s also a bit funny, because the term used in most parts is ABwaschen, which means „removing something with water“, and aufwaschen doesn’t really make much sense.)
