TomatoGrilledCheese :saitama:@tokyo_0 Meta isn't going to be able to take this place over by design. It's decentralized and the software is open source. Even if all the core Mastodon servers went down because Meta bought them, Famichiki and the likes would stay up. Surely a group would work on the code and to bring security updates as they arise and quality of life upgrades too. There is nothing Meta can do to take this down.
