@dushman Yes, the command it question will work in any POSIX confirming shell, but why would anything but the best shell be installed by default on GNU/Linux?

I'm not sure if the command would even work in the original proprietary Unix shell as '-' is being defined by POSIX to mean stdin instead of a file named '-' and I'm not sure what the original Unix shell does.

I tried zsh, but it simply wasn't as good as GNU bash.
