The admins here have decided that it should be up to us, the individual users of infosec.exchange whether to interact with Threads or not, and to be quite honest, that aligns with my belief of what will be the best path for the Fediverse as well.
At this point in time, I have no plans to leave infosec.exchange as my primary fediverse account. I'll miss all my friends who live on "fedipact instances", but I honestly don't think that having a fediverse schism is the right path forward.
Transitive fediblocks are simply bad policy. Different people are going to have different risk profiles, use-cases, and needs for how they want to interact with others within the fediverse and/or other networks. Unless your instance has gone "allow-list federation only", people who don't like you could still manage to find your content and harass you, even if you've transitive fediblocked everyone who you know of who hasn't blocked threads.
I neither like, nor trust Meta's intentions in allowing Fediverse connections to Threads, but I don't think a schism is going to do anything more than make the Fediverse an even more opaque and difficult place to encourage people, organizations, and companies to join.
Y'all are going to make your own decisions, I'm making mine, and I may change my mind in the future. @jerry may change his mind. Who knows.
Peace to everyone, and see ya on the flip side. Or not. Your choice, I'll still be here for a while.
