They pretend like they didn't demand the thing that is now destroying them. It never made sense, it was never well justified, it was always exploitative. It didn't matter, they didn't care, they just repeat what they're told like the NPCs they are.

Even if you take away THING, like TikTok, it will never really be taken away. It'll be censored, castrated and whatever, but they still get their daily habits fulfilled so who cares that it's compromised (imagine implying that TikTok as today is uncompromised, but relatively speaking, it may be).
