@HunterZ @reidrac If you saw this thread over the weekend, I posted my biggest fears on if/when Google cuts Mozilla's main source of funding. Long story short: don't expext to rely on Firefox to save us in the long term. https://mastodon.sdf.org/@joeo10/111512171230220449

@phf@floss.social @berniethewordsmith@mastodon.online @pluralistic@mamot.fr In addition, Mozilla is mostly funded by Google so I can't see Firefox supporting the old Manifest V2 version long term (their most recent statement is a "wait and see") plus they're embracing Manifest V3 anyway.

@berniethewordsmith@mastodon.online @phf@floss.social @pluralistic@mamot.fr Will Google even allow them to do that though? My biggest fear is if Google pulls the plug at that funding if Firefox becomes too popular. Then what? Not to mention if the DOJ wins the US v. Google antitrust trial as Mozilla testified that "they have a lot to lose". Once again, Mozilla's many years of mismanagement dating back to the start of WebExtentions, the Yahoo deal and not finding alternative revenue streams is basically shooting them on the foot
