What I can remember:
* Distro: .deb (Debian); .rpm (RHeL); etc.
* Flavor: Ubuntu; Kubuntu; Lubuntu; OpenSuSe; etc.
* DE: Gnome; KDE; LDE; etc.
I think there's another one but I can't recall.
Today, no one is using "flavor". And "distro" changed in usage to "project name" (like Ubuntu, Mint, Peppermint, and so on).
