    Likely related to ad blocking and a happy side-effect (or at least plausible deniability). Who knows. Without algorithmic transparency we have no idea what YouTube serves to whom and based on which criteria. All we have is a screen recording that’s evidence that it happened in that one instance (as well as the anecdotal evidence of others chiming up saying they’re seeing the same behaviour).

      @EvanHahn@bigshoulders.city In the video the person has uBlock Origin active so I’m wondering if it’s ad-blocking detection code that is being run (perhaps only on non-Chrome browers, given Google will be blocking uBlock origin from working). But, yeah, beyond the screencast evidence it’s hard to tell since we don’t have algorithmic transparency. They could be serving different code by location, A/B testing ,etc., etc. I have no way of knowing I’ll get the same page the person recording the screencast did.
