The PS3 marked the shift from local, physical games to online only, games as a service and things like that.
Game collecting for the PS3 is simply pointless as half of the games no longer function due to the servers not existing, or patches of games no longer being available or other similar stuff. Like seriously more than half of this console's library is either unplayable right now or will be unplayable in the near future.
Meanwhile if you own a PS2 or another retro console it still works exactly as it did on launch day. You just insert the disk and you play the game. Like any true retro games console it functions like a time capsule and the experience can never be degraded by external factors outside of your control. Simply because these devices haven't been poisoned by a reliance on the internet.
