The system is REALLY GOOD at slowly making idealistic decent people adopt its views. How many 'collegiate socialists' take a complete 180° once they start interacting with general public and coworkers in the real world. People think they'll get in, get big enough and be successful enough to change the situation from within, but they end up becoming absorbed and a part of what they hate in the process.
