@jimmybuffettfanaccount @rlier23 this is completely true and why they treat media the way it is.
gore and violence are good examples. i've skinned and butchered animals before, i understand how that looks and feels. lots of movies and whatnot will use that not because it's fitting or they have a handle on it, but because they can feel like they're mature adults. they equate media consumption to personal growth.
i play with more normie friends, and i love getting into rounds of UMvC3 just because of how uncomfortable it can make them. they have no idea how to handle sincere feelings of edge of fanservice because they've never approached those topics in any tangible sense. the R rating in the theater is the closest to reality they'll ever get and they treat it like candy.
