@dragestil I'm not sure, but as far as I can tell, a bunch of land was allocated to national parks at random in Australia and as a result, many of national parks are only feasible to reach via road.

Wikipedia notes that it's situated in a deep gorge, which makes putting a train line in expensive and I'm not sure if the river is suitable for ferries.
