And avoiding GTK is just barely possible if you use Qt, but good luck doing that, and it's not like Qt is all that much better anyway, Seems extremely corporate and I may have heard something about them not developing the free version of Qt anymore, or something. I don't know.
I actually remember something on a BSD having pulseaudio as a dependency. I think it may have been a web browser on FreeBSD. Maybe Qutebrowser. Probably unnecessary, not sure what they were thinking there. Maybe there was something like that on OpenBSD too. It's just bizarre, considering that both of those OSs actually have pretty good sound, unlike Linux (that has the worst audio that you will ever find on anything ever). FreeBSD has some extended version of OSS4, and OpenBSD that sndio, and both are simpler and work without having these gigantic freedesktop/Red Hat monstrosities stacked on top of them.
Anyway, it's all fucked. Software that respects your freedom is dead. And free software as a term and concept is so dead I can't even use it anymore because I am actively against it. And it's all corporate, corporations took it all over and there was zero resistance.
