no it doesn't, I only have to recalibrate it when I make drastic changes to my face (shaving a beard off, new glasses etc) and I can use it with gloves on which is way more important

only if you swipe up, just like if you press the home button instead of just resting your thumb on it it opens your home screen. If you just tap the screen (or, on newer phones with AOD, just look at it) it shows notifs
