His beliefs were more or less stating that Communism requires an industrialized society because you cannot have industry spring from no basis, and it's a permanent revolution. The trotskyists were all about using industry and finance to push for this idea and attack the petty bourgeois (aka normal people who aren't failing to thrive) because they saw them as the vanguard against proletariat revolution. If that sounds familiar, it's because that's what we've seen from Western leftists for the past decade or two. Interesting point— Irving Kristol, father of Bill Kristol of the Bush era, is considered the father of neoconservativism. He was a proud card carrying trotskyist. It's hilarious how thin the grift connection is. It's like the stonetoss tug of war meme where the capitalist fat cat is paying dysgenic antifa to attack normies to ruin society so they can sweep in to take more of it.
