I spent very little of my time helping oversee an open source project coding. However, I spent LOTS of it evangelizing, recruiting coders, building communities, talking to programming instructors and students, on documentation, on internationalization, on graphics, on support, on abuse, fundraising, etc.

Anyone who gripes without even asking how they can pitch in, and showing a modicum of creativity just ain't trying.
