What you’re calling a “Berliner” is, in fact, a sort of doughnut; however, it is known by that name only outside Berlin. The Berliners themselves call it a “pancake”.

(So what do they call actual pancakes in Berillin, you ask? “Egg-cakes”, of course!) 🤪
