The fedi is also normie repellent. There are a lot of people who flip shit if you bring up Mastodon and bad experiences they had. One even mentioned people groomed by troons on the other side of the fedi. Another mentioned how people there are all crazy. One normie I knew even acted like hosting a Pleroma instance was like hosting an imageboard in terms of dealing with CP spammers and the like (actual ones).
