fwiw. I try to avoid saying "war crimes" especially without any specifics like his original post - which could be construed (although not intended) as implying the Hamas attack was justified for perhaps decades of 'war crimes.' That's the problem with not being very specific and/or using e-prime like language with hot-button issues.

I think something like "I am shocked and dismayed that more western leaders are not publicly reminding our allies about the prohibitions on [insert list] provided by International Law. It is in the interest of all democratic nations to uphold these limits to war - even in response to horrific attacks.
