@rdr the fact i have to care that it's running wayland IS the problem.
pipewire is the pristine example of the right way to do system layer upgrades. i dont need to care that it's going on, if i do, that's a bug.
wayland is THE most pyric failure in the history of software, not because x11 was that bad but because wayland is a downgrade in comparison when it comes to the end user BECAUSE USERS NEEDED TO GIVE A SHIT THAT IT WAS GOING ON.
