@nyx yes, it'll be a lot different. it feels like a moreso psychological fascism that is wriggling its way into people's heads that'll have disastrous effects in a way that is more abstract than those of the outright military domination type (not that there isn't plenty of that going on already). you're right and the thing you're talking about makes it harder to fight because it feel better to convince yourself that you're preventing something that was never going to happen anyway while the real damage occurs. i suppose this might just be my perspective because i am a weirdo that spends too much time on the internet though
