@Cheezebell The phrase “hey it seems like you’re experiencing some cognitive dissonance here, but all you really gotta do is see me as the ugliest most heinously shitty girl you’ve ever seen and you’ll be just fine.” Is one that’s gotten a lot of mileage from me. Its proven effective time and time again. If people can just project all their dehumanizing insecurities about “ugly messed up women” onto me, and let their prejudices about how women can only have value when embodying the role of sexualized desire-objects who only exist within a narrow, racist, ableist, fatphobic, and classist range hang loose, they tend to get that I’m just one of a billion undesirable women, and that this fucked devaluation doesn’t actually impact the veracity of my identity position.
Of course actually taking those who reinforce these frameworks to task is another story altogether, but you know… ‘meeting people where they’re at’ and all…
