That endless list of laws in Leviticus and Deuteronomy is because the hewbrews are CONSTANTLY turning away from God. and Moses has to keep bitch slapping them back into submission. Even Aaron the high priest is famous for making a golden calf to worship. Because all those miracles in Exodus were not enough to keep him faithful for just 1 damn afternoon without supervision.
