    Before McDonald's beef was expensive. I don't know where I heard this but there was a story about how cheaper beef led to some businesses in Japan cutting wages because "beef was cheaper", I can't find a source from searching though.

    KFC led to more chicken being eaten too. Before this people sometimes only ate rice.
