Piglet@Homebrewandhacking @grayface_ghost Something like that, or expanding capacity along existing routes, or building a new line to a more general purpose specification greatly simplifying the engineering and design elements and allowing more scope for the scheme to be connected with the existing network. I'm no expert on rail the rail network but it's always seemed to me HS2 is as much a "Britain can Make it!" political project as it is an actual fucking railway.
