@hazel the dev's bizarre argument is that, some video formats do exist where there's essentially no periodic i-frames, and you have to decode the entire video again from the start every time you seek backwards. and because these tricky types of videos exist at all, even the normal types of videos aren't allowed the feature, since they'd have to have two separate bits of code depending on whether it's likely to work with that video file or not. and thats inelegant design, which he won't abide
