For instance, I've heard anecdotes of skeptical people begrudgingly using ivermectin for long COVID treatments and seeing dramatic improvements. There's very little if anything for ivermectin as an anticovid treatment en vitro, but we saw a possible mechanism (secondary and tertiary system enabled via it) that is hard to prove, if not pure bunk. Meanwhile, lots of people use it and claim it helps. I don't discount the placebo effect, but I wonder if the "dirty biologicals" theory might be a part of this that was overlooked by initial sterile testing.
