Pointing out that it's incorrect to refer to proprietary software as "libre" hasn't got anything to do with ideological purity.
There wasn't a problem with the previous osboot and libreboot naming before, as the FSF could endorse free software such as libre-libreboot.

GNU developers have started to audit cleaned versions of coreboot to make GNUboot, which is a very practical solution in my experience.

I wish to jihad against gratis, source-available software myself (99% of people than hear "Free, Open Source Software" assume it means that and refuses to think anything else).
Popularity as a goal dooms freedom to fail.
The FSF aims for 100% software freedom and is working on that goal - freedom enjoyers choose to come to freedom themselves rather than needing to be "converted".
