@Leaflord @7666 @maija @paula @bot @pinguicula @animeirl I don't think this is true. When I was in college over half the people in my friend group were trannies of various types (or as I'd later find they went that way later). It was because of some of the fandoms I was in tended to attract them.

The young ones seem to have the same motivation any little girl has when they dress up in "pretty" clothes and want to wear makeup. They were confused, but I wouldn't call them fucked up.

The older ones... they were like late 20s to early 40s. And luckily they kind of kept to themselves but they'd talk amongst themselves about all this really messed up shit they were into. They were all REALLY ugly-- my theory at the time was they didn't have a real woman to keep their fantasies in check so they went off the rails on porn. They weren't bad people, they weren't sex pests, they kept the grosser stuff to themselves, but they WERE into it.

I probably would try to find a different group if I found myself in that situation now, but back then I saw myself as the modern version of one of those 60s beat poets who always seemed to know all the degenerates around town by name.
