@inthehands @jhwgh1968 personally, I feel like the comparison also does a disservice to people with dementia as well as their caregivers. And I am dubious of this "evil intolerant society" narrative too.

Dementia (Alzheimer's, etc) is a brain disease. My dad had it. I didn't have to care for him every day (too far away) but even knowing and understanding what to expect, I found interacting with him very difficult even though I loved him very much.
