There are plenty of monks who are there temporarily, although that practice kind of stopped since people were abusing it to hide out from debt or legal issues. But some are not called to be fathers or mothers (or husbands or wives) and they know it. Wouldn't it be better to allow those people a place to be useful rather than force society to change in a way to accommodate them?
