This culture has incorporated the primae noctis concept from Braveheart (real or not, idk, who cares) but instead of the nobleman fucking your wife, it's the general population of promiscuous men who fuck her first. It's not about their gratification but a reminder to the men that they are slaves to be abused by the system-rulers. Our enslavement is that bad and people refuse to talk about it because they don't want it to get even worse for them.
