The idea of binding control over replies to an original post has severe operational downsides; if the original server isn’t reachable for some reason (everything from being temporarily overloaded to state actor censoring) the discussion just ends.
I’d urge caution—social networks aren’t like blog posts; comments and discussions, not posts, are the primary raison d’être for social networks to exist.
