    The upsides are very relevant to what you want to do, because they tell you whether the solution will be effective.

    Global warming is very relevant to a farmer whose crop yields are threatened by climate change. A farmer can choose to ignore climate science, but such a choice will not help them solve their crop problems.

    If your problems are caused by something, ignoring the cause will not change anything.
