Tristan@saharafang @LALegault @persagen In part, when people like that practice open bigotry and cruelty, it gives license to those who have been hiding under rocks for fear of what the majority of the community would think of them if they did it. Also, many people worship those with money with the same fervor as religious zealots worship their god. They think that emulation of the obscenely wealthy will somehow grant them a chance to attain similar wealth.
