It's always relative cost; in terms of ecological footprint, nuclear is better than solar PV or wind, never mind fossil carbon.
Nuclear waste really isn't anything more than a cost; there isn't that much of it and it's pretty well understood how to deal with it. (e.g., how it's been dealt with by the Finns.) It's only culturally that it's an implacable eternal curse.
