I appreciate any achievable efforts, and this one has the advantage of also reducing car deaths.

Incremental gas milage improvements like that are a drop in the bucket, alas. The best thing we can do is (1) listen to the scientists and policy wonks who’ve been mapping out decarbonization plans for years, and (2) throw all our political and social weight behind implementing their recommendations.
