Do people actually go and see Barbie and expect it to be a shallow celebration of 80s sexist corporate toy lines?

It is clear from the trailer already that to some degree or other Mattel is going to be ridiculed.

What the trailer doesn't tell you is that it's full of twists and turns and stylistically at least three films. One third is like in the trailer, but there are preachy moments, there are moments that stylistically could have been in Oppenheimer and there are moments that are just completely off the rails because why not.
