joesabin@emilygorcenski When I compare the education I got in the 1960s to 1974 when I graduated HS to what is taught today, it most certainly is in a shambles. In grade school, we learned about current events and how it was shaping our society. The riots after MLK Jr. was assassinated were all covered. We learned about Jim Crow and the post-reconstruction South. We have dismantled that and given it away to private schools via vouchers and whiney parents who don't want their kids to learn the truth.
