@mekkaokereke One of the best teachers I *ever* had was a Black woman: Clara Jackson. Amherst County High School, in rural and deeply racist Virginia.

Not only was she encouraging, she was deeply involved in our education and outcomes. A wonderful science teacher long before there was the public recognition in the disparities around women – especially black women – in STEM, she was *also* the coach of our Science Team for our Academic Competition (think: College Bowl) Team.
